Andrea Szucs, Therapist in New York
I am passionate about working with individuals and couples. I use humanistic theories, tools of positive psychology, drama therapy, strengths-based positive interventions and action exploration. I believe that in developing a deeper understanding and relationship with each other we can update an old model calibrating goals and creating new ways of getting more of what we want and less of what we don’t. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman and Imago to help couples work through negative patterns and learn more effective ways to communicate. By integrating coaching techniques in therapy, clients can more effectively meet their goals using concrete tools and applications. Together we will custom tailor a framework that fits best.
In addition to holding an MSW from Fordham University, a certification in Applied Positive Psychology and Field Instruction I am also a Board Certified Trainer in Drama Therapy. I authored peer-reviewed journal publications and was the co-creator of The ACTing Cure Group model for people with intellectual and psychiatric disabilities. I have presented in national and international conferences on using strengths-based positive interventions in action and the use of role theory and role-play.
Hope is the only positive emotion that needs something negative or uncertain to be activated. According to the newest research hope can be learned, activated, and practiced.
My goal is to inspire hope and maximize potentials through the lens of mindfulness and spirituality exploring meaning and purpose. I would be honored to accompany you to the next chapter of your life. We can explore how to shift your mindset to welcome fulfilled abundance becoming your best possible future self.
I am Adjunct Faculty at Fordham University and a Lecturer at Columbia University School of Social Work. I also provide supervision for master level social work students.
