I recently came across a fantastic site for moms called The Mommy Diary. This blog provides great resources, information, touching anecdotes, product reviews and much more for moms.
This site got me thinking about how a woman fulfils so many roles in a family – from wife/partner, to mom, income-earner, caregiver and so on. A mother has so many relationships that she nurtures in a family and often doesn’t have time to nurture herself.
The moment your partner gives birth to a new life, she forever holds the cherished title of ‘mother’.
And with this new title, comes an incredible new love, a new family dynamic and also lots of new responsibilities 🙂
Whether your partner is a new mom, a seasoned mom, a grandmother or a step-mom, she needs to know that she is appreciated not only by her children, but also by you, her partner.
Here are some ways to show her how much you love and appreciate her this Mother’s Day: (aside, of course, from flowers, breakfast in bed and gifts 🙂 )
- Give her lots of affection
- Tell her you love her and exactly what you love about her the most
- Thank her for specific things that she has done for you and the kids that you really appreciate (be specific – e.g. “Thank you for always packing lunch in the mornings for me and the kids”)
Sometimes words and loving gestures go a long way in showing appreciation in a relationship. 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
